McAfee has been in the business of antivirus for a long time. The company founded in 1988 is also well-known for its firewall antispam, file encryption and public key infrastructure product lines. It is most well-known, however, for its anti-virus products and holds a strong position on the market. Security suites from the company provide comprehensive protection against malware and viruses and are protected by a $1 million identity theft guarantee.

All McAfee plans come with a fully equipped malware scanner that can block the entry of malware into a system and kill or eliminate any viruses already in the system. Its real-time engine blocks malware files from being downloaded and redirects, encrypts and reroutes data so that your online activity isn’t intercepted.

During our tests, McAfee repeatedly earned top scores in the Test of 0 days by AV-Test and our malware protection test. It also passed our privacy tests, scoring 100 percent in all of the categories.

The suite’s interface is simple and clean. It’s a bit difficult to access features check out here like parental controls or identity theft protections. They’re siloed into distinct menus on the dashboard. Support is a little difficult to find. The McAfee community forum is active, but you’ll have to pay for Techmaster Concierge to get help with more complicated issues.

McAfee’s system scan was unable to take out some junk files from our test systems. It also fails to provide the option to drag and drop a file or folder into the suite for scanning like a lot of competitors do. This is a major flaw in a security suite of this price.
